Clare started CEM in 2014. She’s been steadily building the business ever since thanks to some very loyal clients and her desire to offer a flexible service that is designed to help other businesses grow.
Our focus is:
Excellence: We have the skills and knowledge needed to complete your accounts to the highest standards. We’re an ICB (Institute to Certified Bookkeepers) registered practice so we’re licenced to provide a wide range of services including general bookkeeping and accounts department work, purchase & sales ledger, reconciliations, trial balances, VAT returns, and cashflow forecasts. We’re also qualified in Payroll, Self-Assessment Tax Returns, Micro-Entity Accounts, Payroll, Budgeting and Management Accounts.
Communication: Finance is our thing, but that doesn’t mean it’s yours. We don’t talk in jargon – we translate the numbers into something meaningful for you that helps you make good choices for your business growth. We’re here to take the pain for financial admin away so you can focus on your business. You won’t get lost in a corporate haze – we’ll take the time to understand your business and industry and bring a personal touch.
Flexibility: We’ve been working with small businesses, not-for-profit organisations and sole traders and individuals since 2014. Some businesses want us to work as an outsourced finance department managing everything. Some individuals want support with Self-Assessment. Some turn up with detailed spreadsheets, some have a bag of receipts. That’s fine. We’ll provide you with the support you need.
Simplicity: We’ll take away all the data imputing and all the number crunching, collecting your data and turning it into concise financial reports that are easy to understand. We’ll take away the stress of HMRC compliance, Auto Enrolment, automation set-up, budgeting, cash flow and management accounts.
Advice: Let us help you interpret the numbers too. We offer advice on business strategy for growth, company policies and procedures, cost and stock control, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management and training.
ICB Advanced Bookkeeping and Accounting
Clare loves nothing more than a great spreadsheet, Xero and a new finance app. Her current motto is ‘if you’re repeating it, automate it…’
She has a Master’s with Distinction in Hospitality Business Management and twenty years’ experience working in finance departments in the hospitality sector through to teaching degree level finance.
In 2014 she decided she wanted to set up on her own, gaining her Practice Licence. In the same year she won the ICB Luca Award for Student of the Year.
She brings that same level of dedication to excellence to building her business as well as to helping others build theirs.
In her spare time she sings in the local Choral Society, loves gardening, cooking for her friends and has two ginger moggies called Orlando and Jemima. Orlando rather fancies himself as the IT Manager!
Marcelina joined CEM in January 2022 after completing her ICB Advanced Bookkeeping qualification.
Before joining us, she has had many years of QuickBooks experience in the travel industry which has helped with her Xero knowledge development.
She is a self-motivated, hardworking and energetic individual; confident and outgoing who thrives on succeeding and helping our clients succeed.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her young son taking him on regular trips to the seaside.
Marcelina is a scuba diver and the ocean is one of her greatest passions so at any opportunity she gets, she will be under the surface with her camera taking pictures of beautiful underwater sceneries.
Selina has recently joined CEM after a 13-year career in teaching. She has decided to make a career move into bookkeeping as it complements her strengths in organisation, attention to detail and problem solving. She is keen to learn and meets each new challenge with determination and enthusiasm.
Aiming to create a good balance between professional responsibilities and her private life, Selina enjoys long-distance walking and training for walking marathons, watching motor racing, visiting her family in the Netherlands and singing in the local choral society.
